Kuns vir Kersfees: A Celebration of South African Female Artists

A Contemporary Art Exhibition in Somerset West

We’re so excited to invite you to “Kuns vir Kersfees”, a joyful South African art exhibition opening this weekend at Karoo Madonna Atelier in Somerset West.

This special group exhibition is a celebration of local female artists, each bringing her own voice, colour, and creativity to the canvas. The show brings together ten remarkable South African female artists: Juanette Menderoi, Terry Stephens, Christie du Toit, Corietha Muller, Herma Kitching, Hanlie Kotźe, Sonja Nel, Maria, Mariaan Kotźe, and Glendine.

Each artist was invited to create an original 30 x 30 cm painting, perfectly sized for gifting or starting your own collection. Every artwork is unique, heartfelt, and priced specially for the festive season, making this Somerset West art event the perfect opportunity to find a one-of-a-kind piece filled with colour, joy, and soul.

Meet the Artists and Experience the Joy of Local Art

Join us on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 November, from 11am to 6pm, at Twin Oaks Centre, Somerset West, for a weekend filled with art, laughter, and connection.

During the opening day, Maria and Glendine will be painting together live, giving visitors a rare chance to witness the creative process as their collaborative piece comes to life. It’s a warm, personal experience that celebrates both art and community.

Guests can enjoy refreshments, meet the artists, and immerse themselves in a vibrant display of contemporary art that captures the spirit of the festive season.

Why “Kuns vir Kersfees”?

This exhibition is more than just a showcase of beautiful artworks — it’s a celebration of women in art and a reflection of the South African landscape, culture, and soul.

By keeping all artworks the same size and price, the exhibition makes original art more accessible, empowering collectors to choose pieces that truly speak to their hearts.

This year, Kuns vir Kersfees also carries a deeper purpose. In support of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children, Karoo Madonna Atelier is proud to collaborate with Matla a Bana, an organisation dedicated to supporting survivors and raising awareness. A portion of the exhibition proceeds will be donated to this important cause, a gesture of hope and solidarity from one community of women to another.

Whether you’re an established collector, new to buying art, or simply searching for a meaningful Christmas gift, Kuns vir Kersfees invites you to discover something special — art that brings colour, joy, and heart into your home while making a difference in the lives of others.
